Child’s Age Requirements
- Compulsory education applies to children turning six by August 31, 2025, unless a deferral is granted.
- Children turning six between September 1, 2025, and June 30, 2026 can be admitted if sufficiently mature.
Requirements:
- Children born between September 1 and December 31, 2019 need a recommendation from an educational counseling center.
- Children born between January 1 and June 30, 2020 need recommendations from both an educational counseling center and a pediatrician.
Deferral of Compulsory School Attendance
A deferral can be requested if the child is not sufficiently developed. The request must include:
- Recommendation from an educational counseling center.
- Opinion from a pediatrician or clinical psychologist.
Enrollment Process and Admission Criteria
Enrollment takes place on April 2 and 3, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the school.
- The enrollment consists of:
- Formal part – submission of applications.
- Informal part – motivational interview and child’s activities to assess readiness.
- The personal presence of the child is mandatory.
Criteria for admission into two classes (max. 34 students):
- Sibling already attending the school or gymnasium (5 points).
- Child attending Royal Kindergarten Petrovice (5 points).
- Fulfillment of educational readiness based on the school’s educational program (up to 100 points).
- Minimum score for admission: 85 points.
- Maximum achievable score: 110 points.
If the number of successful applicants exceeds capacity, selection will be based on total points. In case of a tie, a draw will be conducted on April 10, 2025, at 10:00 AM.
The list of admitted students will be published on the school’s website and official board on April 10, 2025, at 4:00 PM.
Administrative Procedure
- Written decisions about admission will be issued.
- Rejection decisions will be delivered by April 23, 2024.
Rights under the Administrative Procedure Code include:
- Propose evidence and suggestions until the decision is issued.
- Express opinions during the process.
- Review documentation before the decision.
- Access and request copies of the file.
File review will be possible on April 10, 2024, from 10:00 to 12:00.
Appeals can be submitted within 15 days of the decision’s delivery. Appeals are handled by the Department of Administrative Activities in Education of Prague City Hall.
